How to Draw an Architectural Drawing in Procreate
And so I've seen some architectural drawings popping on my feed, and I wanted to go out of my condolement zone by doing one of them. Fun fact most me, I wanted to be an architect growing up!
Today, I decided to draw Guanajuato, i of my favorite cities in the globe. Information technology's a cute urban center perched in the Guanajuato mountains, full of winding alleys and cobblestoned streets.
-
Choose a reference image and salve it in your pictures. I chose an image from the Callejón del Beso. This street has then much history, and information technology'due south one of the most iconic locations in the city.
-
Open up Procreate and split your screen by dragging the Images application abreast Procreate.
-
Practice several small-scale rough thumbnail sketches to get a experience of where everything is located. If you lot're going afterwards some realism, block in your biggest shapes. This ways paying attention to the most prominent shape's sizes. Where on the folio are they located? Are they on the right or the left of the folio? Are they on the top or the bottom of the page? When drawing, I split my image into quadrants, similar to those from 7th-grade algebra grade.
iv. Pay attention to the perspective. So, the Callejón del Beso seems to have many perspective points. Identify the perspective point(s) and use them to guide your drawing'due south straight lines.
5. Later an initial drawing, create a new layer below your sketch. Lower your reference epitome's opacity to thirty to forty%.
vi. Compare both images lines and make adjustments. Adjustments can be anything from erasing lines from your photograph, re-drawing them to reflect the right object's location, making sure that your drawing reflects the exact width and length of each object in the reference image. Think smaller details that maybe y'all missed. Inquire yourself: are objects in my cartoon located in the correct quadrant? Are things on my drawing situated on the right or left of the page? Are my objects on the summit or the bottom of the page? Or are my objects as wide or an arrow as my reference image objects?
seven. As you're comparing, open a new layer and choose a different color. I decided to utilize a darker color like a darker dark-brown. This allows me to dissever both drawings and brand adjustments.
8. Finally, overstate or compress the image to give the cartoon a border.

Leaving ISLA to Pursue Art Full Time & Pursue Freelancing
I resigned from my ISLA position, and I volition be ending my current Evolution and Communications Manager job on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 5 PM.
Leaving ISLA was non an piece of cake decision considering I genuinely similar my chore, the mission, the education team, my marketing and communication team, and of course, the executive managing director, Jenice Ramirez.
I originally was going to transition into a office-fourth dimension grant writing position at ISLA during January 2022, merely after thinking long and difficult, leaving right at present is the right time for the organization and me. Information technology was such a difficult conclusion, merely deep down, I knew that while I could nonetheless be a grant writer, I would need more time to continue my art plans and other projects that I accept in mind.
I honestly didn't call up I would be part of the bang-up resignation or realization as I wrote this announcement. I have been reading manufactures for more than a yr of people leaving their current jobs to pursue personal goals, and today I'm proud to say that I am i of them.
Working my total-time chore every bit Development and Communications Managing director while juggling a 30-hour fine art job showed me that making a living out of art and other commissions is possible. I've had a successful fine art yr, as you've probably been post-obit my art career on Instagram, @antonioalanisart. If not, follow me at that place to learn more.
While I won't describe how I made this decision, I tin conceptualize comments like: "it's empty-headed to work as a full-time artist. You can't make a living out of fine art. Why are you thinking like this in the middle of a Pandemic?!" To be frank, I thought the aforementioned for the longest time, but not anymore. Since I can call up, people have said that making a living out of art should never be a goal.
I've thought long and hard near this decision which will impact my immediate family unit and, of course, my finances. For the doubters out there: know that I made an informed decision and analyzed this thoroughly. I will never make an uninformed decision nearly my future and career. If this plan works, great! It will exist the offset of a new affiliate. If it doesn't work out, information technology will be fourth dimension to reinvent my life again, adjust, and keep to grow.
I am a firm believer in counteracting these negative paradigms effectually artists and why people can't make a living out of what they love to do. Looking back, I've challenged many negative ideas and managed to succeed many times before. Reflecting, I recall of everything I've accomplished in my life. I accept defied many odds. I've shown people that achieving dreams is possible; I was the first in my immediate family unit to go to college, receive an undergraduate degree in Spanish, become a teacher, and earn a master's degree in educational activity. All that I tin can say is: why stop there?
For my ISLA coworkers:
Working with all of you was such a joy. Yous all made leaving ISLA hard. I'g sad to leave this task because I gained so many friendships and made so many memories with all of yous. We worked so hard and made many memories together. We laughed so hard many times. Leaving ISLA was not piece of cake because you all prioritized me as a person. I leave ISLA with a happy heart.
I'k optimistic that yous volition notice someone who volition do a better task than I did. I do not doubt that yous will observe the perfect candidate(s) to fundraise all the money that ISLA needs to continue growing and elevating the ISLA make locally, nationally, and internationally. I believe in all of yous.
For my Community
Working there was a great award. ISLA became a safety space in my community where I felt like I belonged. I could speak my linguistic communication with staff, parents, students who shared many similarities. I felt honored to utilize my evolution (grant writing and fundraising abilities) to further these opportunities for our students and families. Knowing that my piece of work enabled students to foster a sense of home fueled me to work there. While I volition no longer work in ISLA, I will go along to carry many values like community and leadership in my own personal and professional projects.
I am deeply thankful because I genuinely used my talents to help build a more just and equitable society that I know our communities deserve. I did this past bringing my best, including my expertise as a instructor, artist, didactics manager, evolution manager, to fight for education disinterestedness for our more than 200 students from Dec ane, 2020- January 24, 2022. Independently, I contributed to ISLA's more than than $250,000 grant writing and fundraising. Collectively, we raised more than $615,000 in grants and fundraising. I exit ISLA proudly and know that I poured all my free energy and passion into this position.
I won't say that I'grand leaving ISLA to pursue my dreams. Working at ISLA is a dream organization. You have probably read past now how much I appreciated working at that place. Also, I'thousand not leaving ISLA because I wasn't following my art dreams before; I was already working in ISLA full time while juggling another 30 hours on boilerplate on my art.
So are the side by side steps for me?
I accept commissions waiting. 2022 will be an exciting year for sure, and I will be revealing exciting plans, so stay tuned.
Additionally, working in fine art full time, I am open up to grant-writing and communications commissions. And then if you ever wanted to work with me, please reach out! Send me a DM, or email me at alanad15 [at] alumni.wfu.edu. Please stay in touch as well!

Mirando hacia atrás, he desafiado muchas ideas negativas y he logrado tener éxito muchas veces antes. He desafiado muchos obstáculos.

Herencia 2021
I didn't take a chance to share these pictures because, honestly, and then much happened in the span of a few days during Halloween and Día de Los Muertos. I did attend the @diamanteACC Herencia 2021 exhibition. Glad I was able to catch upwardly with friends and run across new artists.
The night started with a short play/skit titled Trajinera Calavera, played by the charismatic Osiris Cambrani from Universidad Pop Autónoma del Estado de Puebla. She is an extra, manager, and scenic producer.
Her character personified death and portrayed the one and only Catrina, the infamous well dressed engraving that José Guadalupe Posada immortalized in the 20th century. The play was full of cultural and social references to Mexican popular culture.
She pretended she was on a trajinera, and she talked about anybody as her small boat was sinking. Information technology was pretty funny. She made the Catrina come alive that night. I later on learned that the whole elaborate wearing apparel was an ofrenda.
I do want to highlight the moving ofrenda that Peter Marin made in the groundwork. It'south dedicated to the more than than 750,000 people which COVID-19 took away since information technology started in the United States.
The ofrenda from some other angle. You tin discover many similarities between the 2019 Frida Kahlo Exhibition Ofrenda from the NC Museum of Art and this ane. I had a squeamish chat with Peter about his style and learned nigh exciting projects he has in shop.
Moving away from the Catrina play, the exhibition showed a good pick of artists using different mediums. I loved seeing Luis MacKinney and one sample from his watermelon series.
Some work by Rosa Morales, who is from Venezuela. Rosa has a big option of work total of a whimsical aesthetic. Her piece of work is two-dimensional, playful, colorful, and celebratory.
I like her work because it alludes to magic. The huddled people running around her paintings are a repeating design full of free energy and move. I saw another of her paintings earlier where she painted dancing fairies.
That's it, y'all! If you lot want to see this exhibition in person, head over to @diamanteACC.
Being & Belonging Reflection
Dearest University of North Carolina at Chapel Colina and UNC Global: Thanks and everyone who worked behind the scenes to brand Being & Belonging possible. The pandemic postponed this event final yr, but I'1000 glad information technology came to fruition this year. It was an honor to return to UNC-Chapel Hill as a sometime pupil and at present as an artist. I enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new artists who are changing the art mural in North Carolina.
Dear artists: yous all inspired me and taught me something that night. I left campus with an electrifying feeling for a more than hopeful future for everyone in this state and this country. Each of you has a powerful voice. Tonight reminded me that at present more than than e'er, our voices matter. I left with a sense of responsibility to go along fighting and creating spaces to explore who we are and where we belong.
Sincerely,
Antonio

I am here in this exhibition because for far too long, others have told our stories and have depicted our lives. I am here to counteract negative narratives rooted in racism and ignorance.
It is fourth dimension that we Hispanic/Latinx/Latino people take back our stories and say who we are. We can't keep letting others tell u.s.a. how we should behave or portray ourselves.
I'm proud to say that Carolina was an important part of my education and formation equally a commencement-generation college pupil. It was here that I was first exposed to the positives of my civilization, my people, and my community. I began to meet myself in a positive light.
I remember that when I was a college student here, trying to effigy out who I was from 2009-2013, I was starting to reclaim and explore my bureau to tell my own story. I struggled to define who I was and have learned the importance of telling our ain stories regardless of what the media says.
I create my artwork not just to counteract these narratives but also to use art as springboards for conversation that facilitate talks effectually diversity, disinterestedness, and inclusion. I am hither to talk nearly the importance of using art every bit a vehicle for social change. I am a huge believer that artwork tin can modify not simply narratives just as well fight racism and ignorance.

Hoy presento tres piezas tituladas Self Portrait (Autorretrato) , Manny y Dreamers (Soñadores).

I want to thank ISLA NC for inviting me to our annual Día de Profesiones y Oficios! I had the pleasure of talking to children about my art career! Opportunities similar this are significant considering I desire to show children and anyone who wants to pursue a visual arts career that this is possible and that opportunities exist. I'm far from working equally a full-time artist, simply the experience I accept now is plenty to tell me that this career is a possible one.
I'm glad to accept a day job at ISLA working every bit a Development and Communications Manager, which gives me enough fourth dimension to pursue the visual arts outside of piece of work. I'g delighted to have energy and the mental space to dedicate to my artwork, although juggling my full-time task and my art career is challenging but certainly doable.
My message to children and anyone skeptical about pursuing the visual arts: making a living out of your artwork is possible, but it can hard. Acquire to rest your responsibilities. Be prepared to work hard. Environs yourself with people who will back up y'all and mentor you lot. Value your work and time. Work on your craft constantly. Network. Employ to artistic opportunities and professional development programs that marshal with your goals (even if yous didn't experience qualified). Complement your art chance with fiscal literacy and entrepreneurship.

Aprende a balancear tus responsabilidades.
