We were having pasta i night, and I was trying to figure out something to go with it, saw that nosotros had all the ingredients for this sauce and whipped information technology upward in no time. It'due south at present a family unit favorite and we make information technology all the time! It's actually piece of cake and sooooo good with pasta, chicken, fish, nearly anything!
04/18/2004
This is a great cream sauce recipe - either plain or to get-go from. I doubled the recipe and served it on ham/asparagus pasta. I did add together a lot of fresh ground pepper. I think adjacent time I fix this - I will add together either shallots, mushrooms, and/or fresh parsley that has been sauteed in butter - after the sauce is thickened - and then serve it on angel hair pasta or "bird nest" pasta. Perchance the reviewer before me didn't similar it because they didn't utilise their favorite vino? I used a medium sweet white vino this time - just will use a drier 1 next time.
05/26/2006
Quick and muddy sauce; minimal ingredients needed. I added basil, oregano and fresh garlic slivers to add together more than sense of taste. I also topped the pasta due west/ sauteed basil & lemon craven breast.
08/10/2006
Y'all have got to be kidding me...In that location is way too much common salt in this sauce. I should have used my better judgement and just used half, but I dumped it all in As PER RECIPE. Sad to say, only that was a huge mistake. It tasted like body of water h2o! I will try the reduced version next time, but am rating this based on the original recipe..GADZOOKS!
03/17/2005
This sauce was and so like shooting fish in a barrel, throw it all together and voila! No mixing steps. I was concerned it would come out lumpy, concluded up shine as a baby'due south barrel. I gave this a four because of the lack of season. I added garlic and chives to mine. Great base sauce. I served if over bow tie pasta, shrimp and Brocoli. Yumm
03/20/2003
Yummy! This recipe is good and like shooting fish in a barrel! I made it with bow ties, frozen peas and tuna... my husband loved information technology. I volition exist making this again, and tring all unlike things! Thanks for sharing Sara
03/26/2001
I put shrimp in the sauce over linguini noodles. It was crawly.
04/29/2003
Very skillful! It was tasty, yet practical. I served this over chicken and my fiance loved it. I only added half the salt, and it was still great. I also left out a compression of the flour, but because I like a thinner cream sauce. This is a keeper!!!
11/10/2002
Pretty practiced white sauce. It will only cover a lb of noodles with veggies. I will effort information technology again with some other pasta dishes found on this site that have some spices in it...cuz this sauce will help zing it upwardly.
02/xi/2001
For what it is, it is just corking! A quick, dead elementary white vino sauce that tastes lovely. I thought it worked well over some zucchini and green peppers and pasta, but I'yard sure information technology'll have a lot of uses. Thanks alot!
02/20/2012
I don't similar giving negative feedback, especially when everyone's techniques vary and create different flavors, and so it could have only been me, just I did not care for this at all. I've made other white vino sauces earlier because my husband loves it, but just as others take stated, it was very bland and way too salty and the wine flavor was so stiff is absolutely drowned the chicken and pasta I poured information technology over. Nosotros ended upwardly ordering takeout. I added a few herbs (basil, tarragon, fresh garlic) but zilch would bring out the flavor and dull down the excessive wine sense of taste. I'm sorry, but I won't be making this again.
01/02/2011
Homo, simply wasted ii cups of cream and 1 i/two loving cup wine when the whole thing CURDLED. I read the start twenty reviews and no one mentioned anything about being careful of curdling. No idea what happened, but am SOOOO disappointed. I demand to read upwardly on the scientific discipline of how Not to curdle y'all cream when adding wine.
04/21/2011
This is a very basic white vino sauce that has potential to exist astonishing! When I made this, I added some 1/4 tsp garlic salt (in place of normal salt), i TBS garlic pulverisation, and freshly chopped garlic besides. I also added a niggling flour to thicken. I let the heavy cream, wine and previous ingredients heat upward. So I added some sun stale tomatoes and peas. At the same time, I diced some craven, seasoned it with table salt and garlic pulverisation and browned it in a different pan, then added a splash of white wine for added flavour. Once the chicken was almost cooked I added information technology to the sauce to end cooking. I as well added some screw noodles and tossed it together. It came out delicious! This is a bones recipe just with some of your ain touches information technology tin be great!
12/28/2011
I'e been using this recipe since I came across information technology in 2006. However, since my culinary skills have improved then has the quality of this sauce courtesy of the modifications I have chosen. I add together only 3/4 tsp salt. Additionally, i substitute half the amount of flour called for with 1 tbs of cornstarch instead which eliminates the "flour-ey" gustation and thickens the sauce all in one go. As my Grandmother taught me, "Recipes are only a guideline – yous can do annihilation yous want." So . . . many thanks for the by years of this lovely white wine sauce : )
08/09/2007
Very easy and adaptable! I used one-half & half instead of heavy cream because it was what I had on hand. I also added some sauted mushrooms and chopped roasted cherry peppers. My hubby really liked it on some ravoli with a picayune bit of crushed red pepper.
10/11/2011
I would not recommend following this recipe exactly. Commonly I add salt to sense of taste, but this once I followed the recipe and I regret it. With the wine and the salt it tasted similar ocean h2o. I used a cooking wine, so the extra salt was probably not necessary, but I didn't realize it until information technology was as well tardily. I also could have used a lot less vino. I had to add a ton of milk to the sauce to make it edible. Side by side time, IF I make this again, I'grand going strictly by taste. Be careful if you try this recipe.
02/xi/2009
Pretty adept, but a little likewise heavy on the wine for my tastes. I adjusted the corporeality of wine to 2/3 cup, and it was still a little over powering. All the same tasted practiced, just next time I will reduce to ane/2 cup vino. Served over sauteed chicken breast, mushrooms and linguine, anybody liked it!
01/01/2012
It's a skilful base recipe, equally others have said. I added garlic and ii tsp. One-time Bay and so served it over lobster ravioli.
12/26/2008
good base sauce. I cut the wine in half, used half and half instead of foam. I added garlic, italian seasoning, lemon, salt and pepper, and parmesan cheese.
10/14/2012
Good basic recipse, just I have to agree with those that commented on likewise much salt. Being warned beforehand, I cut the salt downward by half and it was still too much for our gustation (and nosotros generally don't mind things a little salty). I added some half and half and a dash of carbohydrate to annul it. The sugar hint is 1 I learned from my mother - information technology "calms down" saltiness if you overdo it. Only a a little bit at a time though (by gustatory modality) so the sauce doesn't become noticeably sweetness. Later on these corrections it was very good over my seared scallops and linguine pasta! Oh, I too added a clove of garlic, minced - sauteed in the pan in olive oil before adding the other ingredients.
11/ten/2002
Pretty good white sauce. It will merely cover a lb of noodles with veggies. I will try it again with another pasta dishes found on this site that accept some spices in it...cuz this sauce will help zing information technology up.
02/07/2011
When I get-go tried making this, I followed the recipe as is, and thought it was practiced, only not cracking. When I made it enough and finally got comfortable with it, I started to add another ingredients to information technology. I first caramelized some garlic in a couple tablespoons of butter and a drizzle of olive oil. Then I added the wine and the heavy cream and let the vino reduce. I likewise added a little scrap of chicken stock, and some dried herbs, and thought that it came out wonderfully with the additions. Very simple yet delectable sauce. Volition exist making this again. I love vino sauce.
01/07/2012
perfect recipe to serve over linguine with sauteed shrimp. yum. exactly what i was looking for
ten/23/2011
If you reduce the wine a little you tin can add some jarred artichoke hearts. Just cut them upward a little and add to chicken. I besides use chicken thighs, season them and saute them in butter and olive oil and reserve the flavour for the sauce.
02/21/2010
I didn't follow this recipe exactly because I was looking for a white wine sauce only non a creamy one. I replaced the cream with chicken broth merely kept everything else the same. Very delicious!!
07/11/2010
I fabricated this exactly as stated and information technology was way besides salty and I really similar salt. I call back with some changes it would be a good sauce just every bit is I exercise not similar it.
05/23/2011
This recipe was first-class, simple, and quick. I followed it exact, except for the fact that I doubled it. I made bowtie pasta, sauted some minced garlic, chopped onions and cerise bell pepper, mushrooms, peas, and threw in some leftover rotisserie chichen. After the pasta was drained I threw everything in the large pot and mixed it. (This was not salty, permit alone too salty. Maybe the other reviewer accidentally used a tablespoon of common salt instead of a teaspoon).
12/04/2011
Succulent! Added 1 teaspoon of oregano and basil for a little bit more flavor. Once on the pasta, I sprinkled some grated parm on top as well as fresh parsley and cilantro with a freshly squeezed lemon. :)
01/28/2009
This turned out great! It was very easy to brand. I doubled the recipe. I had no parsley to add in the recipe, but I added juice from two whole lemons. Afterward the sauce was gear up, I added to fresh broccoli and lightly fried chicken and baked for 35 min on 350 deg. I will definitely be using this sauce recipe over again to put in with chicken and broccoli!
12/20/2010
I made this exactly how it was supposed to be made. Maybe it was the cheap wine I used, I will try this again and utilize a better vino. The wine was merely So overwhelming in the sauce.
11/21/2010
Okay, so this sauce has just changed my life. How tin a sauce practise that, y'all enquire? Past taking a dish I've fabricated for YEARS and turning it into the about scrumptious meal my family has had in a long while. Garlic mushrooms are a dinner staple, ie, fresh garlic, butter, body of water salt, fresh pepper, and fresh mushrooms cooked in the oven for about xl mins.... tonight I COMBINED the cooked mushrooms with the white wine sauce (plus fresh parsley but no salt). It was sooo amazing... poured over some simple sauteed craven breasts... sigh. DELISH. This simple sauce recipe is simply sitting here, waiting for each chef to come up along and make it their ain. I volition be adding sauteed onions and serving over fish, or broccoli and over pasta... or with chocolate over cake... okay maybe not the terminal i, but you lot get the idea... it's a great recipe to add to your arsenal of yummy tricks. Yep. Life changed.
05/26/2008
Not merely was it bland, simply the vino season was also much. Will NEVER brand once more.
03/06/2006
I found this very sauce easy and proficient. I used dill instead of parsley and less salt because I served it over fish and shrimp. I added the sauce to the fish (sauteed in butter with fresh dill and red peppers) when information technology was almost done. It came out beautiful, cheers!
10/15/2006
Easy and quick. Tastes slap-up. Looks elegant and classy. Use half & one-half for those who desire less fat.
ten/22/2003
was not impressed with this at all, in my stance this was very bad and will never apply this ane again.
09/27/2009
not good at all. way too much vino.
10/nineteen/2007
Very like shooting fish in a barrel. I added fresh parsley, ground pepper and shredded parmesan cheese. I used this sauce over broccoli, cauliflower and pasta.
12/19/2011
I made this for my family unit and I was the only 1 that liked it. Kinda bummed they didn't like it.
12/01/2008
Very adept base sauce. I would definitely add some actress spices of your liking though, every bit it is a little plain for my tastes past itself! Very rich and flossy though!
02/07/2009
Yummy! I added common salt to taste though, otherwise I think it would be too salty.
09/23/2009
I added a tablespoon of butter and information technology was perfect!
06/27/2013
This was really good, and and so easy! I added too much wine though, so it was a bit overpowering...but that was totally my own fault. I also added garlic pulverization and some chopped artichoke hearts to go with the ravioli I made. I would brand this once again for sure, but not be as heavy handed on the wine!
09/11/2011
This is how I made it, and I liked it: - half an onion - tsp minced garlic - 1 loving cup half and half creamo (less fat) - three/iv cup vino - i Tbsp flour - tsp paprika - seasoning salt until your desired saltiness - cut upward fresh basil Fry onion & garlic in a pan until the onion is soft. Add together the rest of the ingredients. Was very proficient.
07/08/2007
I made this sauce for my family unit last dark it was great. I added some freshly chopped garlic about 4 cloves and 2 tabelspoons of drained small cappers. after cooking the sauce and earlier serving it i removed the cappers. we served it over crabmeat stuffed talipia. WOW information technology was proficient!!!!!
07/02/2007
A prissy change, I served information technology over chicken. Sentinel the quality of your white wine -- it really makes a deviation.
02/06/2010
I used this as a base of operations and added a packet of fresh Parmesan cheese and a pkg of pesto mix, omitted the parsley, poured it over gnocchi, information technology was a huge hit!
04/23/2001
Delicious and easy to prepare!
01/13/2010
Thanks for the recipe. It's absolutely unproblematic and a great base for this type of sauce. I did add a few pats of butter and sauted some mince garlic with it to start, and used a little over one-half a cup of chardonay. I added a agglomeration of italian seasonings and a picayune of some shredded italian cheese. We had craven breasts blimp with fontina cheese and prosciutto and poured this sauce over it. With asparagus risotto as the side. It was a great meal.
08/10/2009
Its a good bones sauce! Its a good base sauce to tweak to your likings and to pair other food with.
11/03/2010
We did not care for this at all. Tastes similar hot wine. Gross, my entire family gave me crazy looks after tasting it.
01/29/2010
ok this recipe was alright, the sauce did seem a petty on the bla side and when i put the table salt that it says in the recipe it was like WHOA!!! i would propose that anyone else thats making this, brand sure to add a piddling bit of salt at a fourth dimension and taste, dont just dump all of the salt at once like i did!!?
03/06/2012
This is my go-to sauce. It's so simple and goes astonishing with seafood or chicken. Endeavor adding lobster! It would brand even the worlds biggest lobster hater a fan!
03/10/2012
This is a proficient easy sauce. My wife cannot take gluten, then for a gluten free option substitut the flour with corn starch, but make sure to employ half of what it calls for in flour as corn starch thickens Fashion more than flour does.
eleven/fourteen/2009
Waaaay too much salt! Adjacent time I will use half. I ended up calculation sugar to this to counter the salt a little and and so it tasted ok. Will not make this the aforementioned mode again adjacent time. Other than the common salt consequence, this recipe is quick and decent only needs some punch to it.
09/02/2007
Great recipe base, used half the salt, a hint of minced garlic, and some Italian seasoning instead of parsley. I'm serving information technology drizzled over green beans, just it would be great on pasta or maybe fish! Establish a really yummy Chardonay out of the bargain. I bought information technology for the recipe because information technology was on sale, and had a glass while I was cooking. At present I need to buy a few more bottles!
12/25/2006
Quick and easy to prepare with most ingredients on mitt in all kitchens. I often serve this over Penne, Vegetarian Chick'north, and Broccoli and information technology's cracking.
03/09/2012
Way likewise much salt, and very plain. Cut the salt in one-half and employ this as a base to add flavour to.
02/fourteen/2011
Great flavor - you can taste the wine notwithstanding subsequently cooking.
01/23/2005
I used this sauce with some chopped turkey over pasta. Succulent! I added most ane/2 teaspoon of Italian Seasoning to give it some zip. Yummy! Kids and hubby loved it!
09/27/2012
This was swell rich sauce. Added sauteed garlic. 1 of my favorites for certain.
07/17/2007
I made a half recipe of this to serve over chicken and proscuitto with mashed potatoes. I cut the common salt in half as previous reviewers suggested, and added a little minced garlic. I too fixed the sauce in the pan that I had sauteed the chicken in, so in that location was a bit of olive oil and other spices. It was delicious, nosotros'll definitely go far this style again. Cheers!
eleven/10/2010
I am sorry to exist honest here, but this sauce tastes besides bitter with the white wine. I propose adding in some butter, roasted garlic and a ton of seasonings to this recipe.
10/13/2010
Made this final night over shrimp with spinach and angel hair pasta and wow what a easy and fast sauce. This was my start sauce of this kind to brand and it plough out amazing. I did add lots fresh gr. pepper and a couple of TBS butter likewise. Thanks for a neat recipe!! I
10/20/2006
Information technology's a expert recipe except there is way to much salt in information technology. I idea a tsp sounded like also much only I did it anyway. Adjacent time I will only apply a half a tsp.
04/16/2012
I did not intendance for this. Maybe I used the incorrect wine. I used Chardona. Wanda H. Texas
07/09/2011
This was a nice white vino sauce but i might use even less salt. it had a bit salty taste.
07/23/2010
I am rating on this recipe every bit it is written. The ingredients are a piddling off and throwing them all in a saucepan before cooking the flour can't exist right. I thought I would try it though.... and it merely wasn't very proficient.
07/22/2010
This is a peachy base of operations sauce!! I didn't apply all the salt information technology called for because I added Parmesan cheese to the sauce. I as well added oregano, almost a tsp. of chopped garlic, and a tin can of mushrooms. I put the sauce over cheese tortellini and information technology was fantastic!!! Whole family loved information technology and I would consider making it for a dinner political party! Thanks a bunch!
01/nineteen/2005
This was crawly. I did not have any parsley, just information technology was wonderful. I cooked the sauce then added broccoli and craven and let it cook, information technology was dandy.
03/28/2011
SUPER SAUCE! I used this over Stuffed Chicken! Beginning with ane/two the salt, then table salt to taste! Other than that, it was amazing. Wonderful base sauce, every bit everyone will add together more of the things they like. There actually is no way to mess this upward! I added fresh parsley and garlic; I will exist calculation more fresh herbs next time! And besides winey? Not at all! I used white cooking wine, and it came out wonderful. Anybody loved it!
06/06/2011
I just made this for the outset time and LOVE IT! The only thing I did different was I added a splash of lemon juice (and I mean a splash!) and a dash of basil. I eyeballed the salt to be on the condom side because I do use cooking wine that has a salty taste already. I volition definately be using this recipe over and over again!
12/02/2010
very yummy and piece of cake!!
02/01/2005
I would brand this again, but next fourth dimension I volition sift the flour ameliorate. Mine came out in little clumps when I added that to the liquid ingredients. I also added italian seasoning and a little garlic to spice it up a flake.
03/19/2011
Nicely done
01/01/2010
Very easy and very expert. It's versatile every bit well! Can be easily modified to change the flavour.
09/07/2008
I actually enjoyed this recipe. I served the white wine sauce over steak with scallops and prawns and asparagus. Information technology was delicious! My husband enjoyed information technology as well yet establish it a bit strong. I disagreed! I loved it!
02/25/2014
I should have known better. 1 cup foam to 3/4 of wine. Whoa, style to winey. I added another i/2 cup foam and then some milk and it was all the same very overpowering. I cooked for a long time trying to cook downwardly the wine. Plus way too much salt for the corporeality. I used half of what was called for. I think they need to accept a relook at this recipe, nonetheless there are a lot of people who like it.
12/08/2015
Awesome base, I added garlic and mushrooms and had information technology over linguine and craven strips the whole family unit loved it
06/11/2018
One annotation and winey equally written. Reduce wine to 1/3 to 1/2. Add together TBL butter. Use a heavy mitt with seasonings (double or triple the herbs) and add garlic powder and (white) pepper.
11/19/2010
excellent! I used this on sauteed scallops and veggies on penne. It was actually fast and like shooting fish in a barrel and turned out groovy. I used sage instead of parsley since that's what i had on hand.
05/01/2017
Simple, delicious sauce. Made it for the first fourth dimension. The sauce did break, but I constitute a fix.. whisk an egg yolk with a little of the wine... and then very slowly, while whisking, add your broken sauce. It completely stock-still it.. it was polish, and tasted great! Yes, when I was done eating I realized I just ate a whole stick of butter, but who cares if I get fat. My female parent will still love me.
03/26/2017
Used this recipe as a base but changed a few things. Reduced the wine past one/2, used chicken broth simply dissolved flour in a little water before adding to avoid lumping.
09/17/2014
At that place is TOO MUCH Vino in the sauce. If I had used half equally much vino that would accept been better - simply I didn't know.
02/thirteen/2009
Like shooting fish in a barrel and tasty. I used it equally a base and so added garlic, black pepper, and shrimp.
07/09/2009
This is a good base sauce, but I found it to be very salty, withal when I paired with lightly seasoned craven the salt was non as strong. I will try this once again with less table salt.
11/29/2016
squeamish and piece of cake and expert
05/08/2021
Great recipe, Very unproblematic to brand and Delicious! Starr D
08/04/2011
This was a good starter sauce. I used a Piesporter wine, which was entirely too sweetness. You lot definitely need a drier wine for this sauce. Otherwise, I think it would have been really tasty! I'll effort it again with a drier wine.
04/13/2008
Very quick and piece of cake! I had some leftover pesto that I used on my chicken, and mixed it into the sauce. Made for my parents and family unit- anybody liked it (fifty-fifty my 6 twelvemonth old).
03/03/2020
As well much wine! Not flavorful at all.
09/14/2009
My Hubby loved this, even though he is not a big sauce homo. We don't have heavy cream in the house, so I used whole milk instead, and it was squeamish. Not likewise heavy. I added it to penne, chicken and brocoli. Information technology was a nice simple repast, and the vino adds a prissy flavour. Volition exist making this again!
01/02/2011
Wow! I'm with some other reviewer....Style too much common salt. Information technology's all I could taste. Be careful with the salt.
05/16/2011
I really liked this. Information technology was simple to throw together and its just a basic sauce, and so it was existent piece of cake to put in the flavors that I wanted..I added fresh garlic and fresh chopped basil and tossed this with farfalle and roasted veggies - it was amazing!! I don't know what people were talking almost with the "too much table salt" comments. I but eyeballed the salt, and ended up having to go back and add more, so I probably put in more than than what was called for. I don't commonly utilize a lot of table salt in my cooking - when I think something needs salt, it REALLY needs salt, lol.. Just to each their own. I volition definitely exist making this again =)
06/26/2020
I found the same recipe years ago and loved it and can't believe information technology'due south been years since I made information technology again. I followed the recipe and don't have any complaints. I feel this is best used to add a layer of flavorful and not as the main focus of the dish. I beloved it over baked chicken cordon bleu. I've also used information technology on cheese and chicken ravioli. Information technology's fairly strong so use it sparingly at beginning. If you want more than you can always add together more.
08/21/2015
Loved this! I added some lemon juice
01/17/2020
I added garlic & onion pulverization for extra tatse.
10/04/2009
A good, basic white wine sauce. It at least starts you off on a good note and then add together any spices suit your tastes.
09/29/2015
Loved this sauce. I added 4 garlic cloves minced, and about 1/2 loving cup chicken broth. I added flour to get my desired consistency. I also added mushrooms to chicken medallions coated with Italian bread crumbs, and stirred everything together with pasta.
08/29/2010
This recipe is one of the best I've institute, to brand the base for chicken or turkey tetrazzini. My alteration includes starting with sauteeing mushrooms and minced garlic in olive oil, then making the sauce from in that location. It definitely needs garlic maybe instead of the salt. I use Marsala cooking vino, which makes a bang-up tasting sauce.
